This lecture gives an overview over primary constructive and technological requirements for different elements of a building. The content spans from the foundations of a building over walls and openings to the buildings envelope (roof, façade, ..). The lecture provides detailed information about individual elements as well as the overall relationship between them. Cross-relationships between various constructive aspects and materials depict, according to the architectural reality, building construction as a complex, technical, functional and aesthetic discipline.
In this course students learn to understand the basic relationships between material, construction and form and the principles on which these relations are based upon.
They have acquired knowledge, which is applied in accompanying seminars and forms a basis for future lectures at this university.
