Based on the content of the lectures “Construction 1” and “Building Materials Science”, this course extends the knowledge about fundamental building components. While dealing with each building element individually the lecture always keeps a focus on cross-relationships and interdependencies between various construction elements and its technological and environmental conditions. These aspects describe building construction as a complex, technical, functional, and aesthetic topic, also including aspects of sustainability.
To illustrate and deepen the content of this lecture visits at construction sites and / or production facilities are, according to feasibility, planned.
In this course students learn to understand the basic relationships between material, construction and form and the principles on which these relationships are based upon.
They have deepened their knowledge the lectures “Construction 1b” and “Building Materials Science”, which is applied in accompanying seminars and forms a basis for future lectures at this university.
